Enrique Iglesias: I ruined J-Lo surprise, on Jennifer Lopez's birthday

Enrique Iglesias felt "so bad" when he accidently "screwed up" Jennifer Lopez's birthday surprise.

The Spanish singer is currently touring with Jennifer. The Latino beauty celebrated her 43rd birthday this week, and while the pair have formed a firm friendship, Enrique regrets being so open with the star at times.

"She had a surprise party and I didn't even know about it, and I was like, 'I'm trying to make it to your party for your birthday!' I felt so bad, I was like, 'Oh my God, I can't believe I just screwed that up,'" he laughed in an interview with Extra.

Enrique hopes to make the most of their friendship by collaborating on some songs. The 37-year-old star also wrote Jennifer's track Dance Again and was happy to hand the song over to the star.

"We've actually sang a few songs together in the studio. By the time we do it it's going to be hopefully half way through the tour, or as soon as possible," he said. "Even if it doesn't happen during the tour, I want to work with Jennifer for a long time.

"It's strange, because I actually wrote that song for myself, but when I wrote it I was like 'This is not for me, this is for a girl.'"

Enrique Iglesias wants to record with Jennifer Lopez ( J.Lo )

Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias, currently on tour in the United States with Jennifer Lopez, told Efe on Monday that he would like to record some "cool, Latin" sounds with her.

Iglesias and Lopez are playing to full houses at every concert and though they don't sing together in their presentations, the Spaniard said they're likely to do so not far down the road.

The singer told Efe via e-mail that the idea doesn't spring from "anything in particular, we've recorded several things together but it must be like Jennifer says, that I'm too much of a perfectionist - but I'm positive we'll do a number together and may it be soon."

"Meanwhile we're really enjoying the tour," the 37-year-old singer said after the two concerts he gave this weekend with Lopez and rap duo Wisin & Yandel in Newark, New Jersey.

Iglesias is nothing averse to musical duos as exemplified by those he has done with a number of top Latino and Anglo artists, being one of the first to do crossover performances in the English-language market.

The singer said that collaborations, like the songs he sang with Christina Aguilera, Lionel Richie, Aventura and Pitbull, "should come about organically - I'm working on several ideas now but they're still in the embryo stage."

Iglesias, J.Lo and Wisin & Yandel plan to perform in Chicago, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas, Miami and other cities, before wrapping up the tour in Orlando, Florida, on Sept. 2. EFE

Fights & Debates: Jennifer Lopez Insisting Enrique Iglesias to get married with long time girlfriend Anna Kournikova

Enrique Iglesias is resisting pressure from touring mate Jennifer Lopez to tie the knot with his girlfriend of 11 years Anna Kournikova, insisting they already feel like a married couple.
Iglesias has been dating the tennis star and model since 2001, but he sees no point in making their relationship official – however, Lopez begs to differ.

During a joint appearance on “Good Morning America” on Tuesday, he said, “I think Jennifer and I think differently when it comes down to that. I don’t think you need to be married to someone – that doesn’t mean that you are going to love them more, that doesn’t mean you’re going to be any more loyal. I mean, at the end of the day, when you’re with someone, you are married.
Yet Lopez clearly doesn’t feel the same way, interrupting: “We had this discussion over dinner and it’s a long discussion.

Lopez, who split from her third husband Marc Anthony last year and is currently dating dancer Casper Smart, insists she’s open to the idea of getting hitched again, calling marriage the ultimate “fairytale”: “I will never give up on that dream.

Enrique Iglesias on Upcoming Tour with Jennifer Lopez from Montreal on 14th July to Orlando, and on Marrying Anna Kournikova: “We Are Happy Where We Are”

He might have a famous father, Julio Iglesias, but Enrique Iglesias has carved his path all on his own. Since leaving the University of Miami to pursue music in 1995, the Latin superstar has sold over 70 million albums, had 68 No.1 charted hits and Billboard has called him "The King of Latin Pop." And after looking at his time in the spotlight, there is no questioning that title.

Hitting the scene with his mega Spanish hit Enrique Iglesias in 1995, he easily made the transition to American audience with his album, Enrique. After a two-year break,  he made a comeback with his song “I Like It," and every song released since has become an instant sensation. There's also a tour with Jennifer Lopez coming up.

This weekend, we got the chance to chat with Iglesias inside Arkadia at the Fontainebleau during the iHeartRadio Ultimate Pool Party, where we talked everything from music to marriage.

Niteside:
I would say welcome to Miami, but you live here.
Enrique Iglesias: I live here. I live about five minutes from here actually.

Where is your favorite place to grab a drink when you’re here?
I usually start at my house. Luckily, I am not bothered by paparazzi here. It's so relaxing. I can actually get away when I am here. People think Miami and they think you have to party and go out. But it’s my favorite place to relax. It's not just about South Beach – the beach is a big place.

Tell me about your upcoming tour with Jennifer Lopez.
I leave tomorrow to Lebanon. Then it all begins with Jennifer July 14th in Montreal. We finish the tour up in Orlando.

What is Jennifer Lopez to you: JLo, Jennifer, Jenny From The Block?
I call her Jennifer, even though it’s probably just easier to say JLo.

What can fans expect from this tour?
The whole thing is that we are very different. Different performers, different types of music and I think that combination is going to make it interesting. You need that conflict for fans to get a good show. Fans are also getting two shows for the price of one.

Can we expect another single with you and Pitbull?
Pit is really one of my friends. He’s one of the coolest guys. A little crazy in the terms of energy. He’s one of those guys who will go to bed at 4 a.m. then call me at 6 a.m., “Lets go get breakfast!” He’s such a good guy.

I have to know: You and Anna have been together for a long time. Any plans to put a ring on it?
(Laughs) We are happy where we are now.

Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez May Unveil New Duet on Tour

Fans can count on seeing Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Igelesias sing together when their co-headlining tour hits the road next month. They just don't know what the songs will be yet.

"We're planning it, definitely," Iglesias told Billboard.com during a conference call with reporters to talk about the tour, which begins July 14 in Montreal and plays 26 dates before finishing Sept. 2 in Orlando, Fla., with Wisin Y Yandel opening. "Her show is so different to my show; that's what I think is going to be the cool combination. That's what I think fans are gonna appreciate. I think it's unexpected, and I've already seen what her show consists of, and I think fans are really going to appreciate that. And definitely, if we can combine that at one point, both of us together, it's gonna be fun for the fans."

Jennifer Lopez 'Hits' Package Coming in July

There are some obvious possibilities, of course, including "Mouth 2 Mouth," from the re-released edition of Iglesias' 2010 album "Euphoria;" and Lopez's recent single "Dance Again," which Iglesias co-wrote and which provides the title track for a compilation she's releasing on July 24. But nothing is in stone yet.

"We've been working on different things together for the past few months, maybe even more than that," said Lopez, who's currently on tour in South America. "Maybe like a year now we've been talking about doing something together. The tour was a natural thing that came out of our desire to do something together. As far as what we'll do on stage together...I'm coming back in a few weeks and we're going to get together and figure out exactly what we're gonna do."

Iglesias revealed that the two also have "a new song we're trying to figure out how to incorporate into the show" but added that he's open to anything. "We might be able to come up with something where I collaborate on a song that's... one of (Lopez's) or her on one of mine. We still have to figure it out. Or maybe at one point Jennifer and I do the dancing, which would be cool...I can actually bust a move."

Lopez, meanwhile, said that "Dance Again...The Hits," which also includes the new single "Goin' In" with Flo Rida, was inspired by the impending tour. "We had recorded some (new) songs and we just decided that, with the tour and everything, it might be the right time, since I'm going to perform all those songs right now, to do a great compilation," she explained.

Iglesias views the tour as the end of his "Euphoria" cycle. After it's finished, he said he'd like to "lay back a little and just try to finish and record some songs," although he says his next album has started to take a little bit of shape. "I'm starting to come up with stuff," he said. "It's taking me a while...and I don't know how much of it is going to be in Spanish or how much of it is gonna be in English. I need to come back and get in the studio and work... Right now I have a little more English than Spanish, so it's leaning more that way, but I'm not 100 percent sure. I'm at a point where if I don't feel 100 percent confident about the song or the album, I'd rather stay home."
