Julio Iglesias is a legendary Spanish crooner
Enrique Iglesias is a successful singer in his own right
Julio says that he and Enrique will never duet
One has been performing over 4 decades and the other a little over a decade, but Spanish father and son Julio and Enrique Iglesias will never sing together. Julio Iglesias told the Associated Press, If my son and I would ever perform together, it would come across as commercialized. If we do sing together, it’ll be at our home with family at a dinner or something. I just don’t believe in a commercialized duet with my any of my sons. And when it comes to evolving in the music industry, dad was quick to say that with son Julio he’s able to talk a lot about music, but his son Enrique will cut him off immediately when the subject comes up. Dad Iglesias is just happy that his son has a very magical music career.
There have been many occasions over the years, where a son follows in the footsteps of his famous father and becomes a star in his own right. Many times, when this happens, you can see the father and son teaming up to collaborate on projects together. Just take Will Smith and his children, for example, they have done many projects together.
However, it seems that we will never get to see or hear a collaboration between the legendary Spanish crooner Julio Iglesias and his talented son Enrique Iglesias. Julio says that he will never collaborate with his son because he feels that it is just a commercial gimmick and takes something away from the beauty of the music.
Speaking to El Universal, Julio explained, "Singing with my son is something that would come off as very commercial. I think that he and I will never sing together. If we sing, it will be at a dinner, when he has kids and wants his kids to sing, just like my little ones do. I don’t believe in a public commercial duet between my kids and me."
While this is disappointing news, it may not come as a shock to most of you, as there have been rumours the Julio Iglesias and Enrique Iglesias have had a bit of a falling out recently, which resulted in Enrique avoiding his brothers wedding.
