Enrique Iglesias: “My Hidden Talent is 69-ing” : Interview

And all the other awesome things Enrique Iglesias said at a Gilt City event celebrating the Latin pop sensation.

Do you have a hidden talent?
I’m good at 69. I started very young. That was one of my first positions.

Finish the sentence: I can't go to bed unless I…
Unless I pee at least five times, because I hate waking up in the middle of the night and having to go pee.

Do you have a celebrity crush?
Diane Lane. I've always liked her.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Rum. I got involved three years ago with Atlantico Rum. I shouldn't be drinking as much of it, and at times I happen to eventually drink a little too much.

What is your best and worst personality trait?
My best personality trait that I think I'm very approachable. And my worst is that I can be moody.

What is your all-time favorite movie?
That's a tough one since there are so many movies that I love, but I would have to go back to when I was a child: Raiders of the Lost Ark, ET, Goonies.

What was your earliest music memory — that one thing that made you want to become a musician?
This goes back to when I moved to Miami when I was 9 years old. I went to go see Bruce Springsteen’s "Born in the USA" tour in the Orange Bowl, and I didn't know anything about music. I just remember seeing the guy on stage and thinking, “Man, I would do anything to be that guy.” He just impressed me so much, and he was such a powerful performer and great storyteller, so that was one of those moments I said, "That’s what I want to do when I grow up."

Favorite go-to karaoke song?
Probably “It's Raining Men.” Am I secure enough to pull that off?

What are you looking forward to the most in 2014?
I love what I do and I think I've appreciated it more throughout the years, but just to keep on traveling, keep on doing shows, and hopefully making better albums. That's always my goal. I don't know, maybe in 2015 I'm gonna be like, "Ya know what, I'm sick of this, um, I think it's time to retire." Sometimes I think, "Whoa, do I see myself when I'm 60 or 50 or in my 40s singing 'Tonight, I'm Banging You'?" Honestly, I don't know.

Have you decided the name of the new album?
I have three names for the album, and I don’t want to say the name just in case I get it wrong, but it will be one of those three. But the album is finished, so that’s a cool thing.

What makes the new album different from Euphoria?
Well, every album is different. What I try to do is co-write with other songwriters, especially songwriters that come from completely different musical backgrounds, and that helps me a lot. It's definitely more eclectic. Euphoria was pretty eclectic, but this is even more. There are a lot of features in it. I go from English to Spanish, and I feel I have some cool songs. For some reason, in Spanish, it takes me a little longer at times.

Enrique's 10th studio album will be out in March, but until then check out his latest scorching hot single "Heart Attack."

Interview: Enrique Iglesias Praises Pitbull And Talks Bromance: "He's A Pleasure To Work With"

Enrique Iglesias: 'Pitbull and I should form a duo, it'd be brilliant'

The pair team up once again for new single 'I'm A Freak' and their friendship continues to blossom.
Enrique Iglesias has been speaking exclusively to Capital about his friendship with Pitbull and said the 'Timber' star is always a pleasure to work with.

The stars team up once more for new song 'I'm A Freak' and it's a musical partnership that continues to work wonders.

"We both live in the same city, we love music," he explained. "We get together a lot just to hang out and we're always listening to music constantly.

"It's a pleasure to work with him, I've travelled around the world with him, we've done tours together – so it's good to work with friends. He's always ready and willing and able."

Enrique also admitted there is a level of honesty between the pair that is crucial for making new music.

Meanwhile, he's also been speaking to Capital about being involved in Pitbull's World Cup 2014 song 'We Are One'.

The singer said he is such a big football fan that he had to be involved in whatever way he could, and therefore managed to sing in the background of the song.

Interview: Complete Story
Now an astonishing 20 years into his music career, Enrique Iglesias has and continues to achieve the kind of global success any male solo artist would give his right leg for.

As such we were anticipating diva behaviour when we met up with him last week to talk about his tenth album Love + Sex and new single 'I'm A Freak'. What we got was quite the opposite...

If your new single was an animal, what animal would it be?
"I would say a dog."

Good choice. We were going to suggest jackrabbit. 'I'm A Freak' is quite a humpy song, isn't it?
"You think I'm humping all the time?! Look, sex is something that instigates a lot of ideas when it comes to music. What I like about sex is that it can be raw, mature, stupid, fun, passionate. That's why I called the new album Sex + Love."

That was a brilliant segue if we may say so...
"[Laughs] It's true though! When I sit down and write songs, those are the feelings that are predominant. You can't get away from it. People have a tendency to judge you through your music. Just because I sing about sex it doesn't mean I'm always having sex - sometimes it's a fantasy, I'm fantasising about it."

Is the song's accompanying music video a fantasy of yours or just another night at Casa de Iglesias?
"Of course I've been to crazy parties, but not every night! I'm surprised people are saying the video is shocking. Is it really? People are running around being drunk and crazy, it's nothing new."

The song features Pitbull... again. Maybe it's time you two formed as an official duo?
"You know, we've spoken about it, seriously! We should do a whole album together - it would be amazing. We've toured together as well. He's similar to me in that he doesn't take his success for granted. We're both enjoying where we're at in our lives. We're friends and we live in the same town, which means we're always in the studio together. He's actually on another track on the album as well."

What would you call yourselves as a duo? Would you be against bringing in Jennifer Lopez as a third member?
"I'd love it! I've worked with Jennifer a few times - there's a bonus track on the album with her. It's cool to work with artists from different musical backgrounds."

You do collaborate quite a lot these days.
"The reason I started doing it a lot is because it takes you out of your comfort zone. I have my style of making music, and working with other people sends you in a new direction. I don't want to bore myself! When I put an album out, I'm going to have to perform it a million times, so I need to be passionate about it."

The album, Sex + Love, is a mixture of dance Enrique and classic Enrique. Which Enrique do you prefer?
"I don't know, man. The music I make on any particular day just depends on how I'm feeling. I can't believe you've heard the album, I've barely heard it in full myself yet. Which songs did you like?"

'Loco', 'Heart Attack' and the Kylie duet.
"That's interesting. The Kylie duet will be a single at some point for sure."

This is your tenth album. Is it your best work?
"I've never thought about that. I still love my debut album, partly because I never thought I would get to release it. I signed a record deal at 17 and thought I'd last a few months."

So what's the secret to sticking around in the music industry?
"Honestly, just loving what you do and never believe your own hype. Keep your feet on the ground and don't think you're the s**t, because you're not. Treat everyone equally and work hard. You've got to really love it."

Enrique Iglesias released 'I'm A Freak' on March 9. The album, Sex + Love, followed on March 17.

Enrique Iglesias's Interview : By His Mole?

Barbara Walters, it 'aint. Celebrities are used to odd interviews, but perhaps none have been stranger than a recent interview of Enrique Iglesias that has surfaced on the internet.

In the two-minute video (via celeb blog Oh No They Didn't), a game Iglesias sits on a late-night talk show set and is asked questions by what appears to be the mole that was removed from his cheek in 2003.
The must-see-it-to-believe-it clip includes the mole asking Iglesias about his latest album, Bailamos: Greatest Hits. Then the questions get personal.

"Do you think of me sometimes?" the mole asks.
"Sometimes," replies Iglesias, before an awkward silence.
"You were always my hero," says the mole before ending the interview.

Enrique Iglesias interview : Parade Magazine (March 3, 2012) : Enrique Iglesias on Love, Fame & how Fans can make an Impression

ENRIQUE IGLESIAS ON LOVE, FAME AND HOW FANS CAN MAKE AN IMPRESSION !
"I shouldn’t say this, but I bought my plane before I had a [pilot’s] license,” Enrique Iglesias says conspiratorially. “I was like that kid the Barefoot Bandit. He didn’t know how to fly, but because he loved planes, he did it anyway.”
The singer’s bravado has served him well. After helping to launch the Latin music boom with sultry ballads, Iglesias, 36, is now one of dance music’s chief provocateurs, with hits like “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You).” The high-flying star, whose latest album is Euphoria, tells Mary Margaret what keeps him grounded.

PARADE : You spent much of last year touring the world. Did you take any keepsakes with you?
ENRIQUE : I have a picture of my two dogs, Lucas and Grammy. Grammy passed away in 2010. That dog was like a human—he would get sad when I packed my bags. It was like losing one of my best friends.

PARADE : A lot of your songs are about love. Why?
ENRIQUE : It’s the thing we all have in common. Ninety percent of music tackles that subject because everyone—no matter how old, what religion, or what nationality—knows those feelings.

PARADE : Speaking of love, you introduced longtime girlfriend Anna Kournikova as your wife at a concert in Russia last year. What was that about?
ENRIQUE : It was just meant to be sweet in the moment. I honestly didn’t mean to confuse people. I thought it’d be easier for the audience to understand than if I said “my girl.”

PARADE : So no wedding bells soon?
ENRIQUE : I’ve never really thought marriage would make a difference. Maybe it’s because I come from divorced parents, but I don’t think you love someone more because of a piece of paper. And nowadays, it’s not taboo to have kids and not be married. What makes a difference is that you’re a good parent, period.

PARADE : What did you learn about fame from observing your father Julio’s career?
ENRIQUE : I remember there were these two guys who worked with him who would never even watch his show, but afterward they were at his dressing room saying, “Man, that’s the best show I’ve ever seen you do.” In showbiz, it’s easy to be surrounded by people who tell you everything is great, and as a little kid, I developed a sixth sense about those people. It gave me a tremendous psychological advantage.

PARADE : You grew up in Miami and still live there. What do you love about it?
ENRIQUE : People always think of the partying and the clubs on South Beach, but it has a tranquil side, too. It’s a city where you can truly enjoy the water, get on your boat and just go fishing. And the water’s not cold!

PARADE : How do you spend Sundays when you’re home?
ENRIQUE : I sit on the couch and watch TV. 60 Minutes is my favorite show. It’s kinda weird because I go from that to American Idol to Real Time With Bill Maher.

PARADE : You like to go to the movies on Mondays and Tuesdays. Why is that?
ENRIQUE : It’s the best time: There are no lines, and you’re not sitting next to someone who’s snoring.

PARADE : What’s the craziest thing a fan has done to get your attention?
ENRIQUE : Sometimes you’ll see a shirt fly off. That will get not only my attention, but the whole band’s.
